Fall Nature Craft
Fall is a wonderful time to help children connect with nature. In the classroom, I usually spend two or three weeks, just learning about leaves, acorns, and animals that live in trees! Fall provides endless learning opportunities for sensory experiences, play, fine motor, and art! For this activity, first, take your child or students on a walk out in nature. Bring baskets or boxes to collect fall materials: acorns, leaves, sticks, pine cones, moss, bark, ect. Explore the different smells and textures. Talk about the animals that live in the forest preparing for winter.
Fall Nature Mobile Craft
Materials Needed: Paper plate, yarn, tempera paint, paint brush, hot glue gun, and fall materials such as leaves, acorns, sticks, pine cones, moss, ect.
Paint the paper plate with autumn colors: orange, yellow, and gold. Allow paint to dry.
Once dry, punch three to four holes at the bottom of the paper plate.
Allow your child or student to arrange the materials onto the plate
Hot glue the materials down and have the child direct you. **young children should never handle a hot glue gun** Allow to dry.
Cut three to four pieces of yarn and tie them onto the mobile.
Have your child or student pick out materials to hang on the ends of the mobile, such as a pine cone, a small painted stick, a flower.
